Eligibility for Employment Pass [Malaysia Digital Status (MD) & ICT Companies]

Holds a tertiary qualification from an institution of higher learning (in any field); or
-
Holds a diploma in multimedia/ICT or another specialised ICT certification plus at least 5 years’ relevant experience in multimedia/ICT or an equivalent field; or

Has held a professional, executive, management or technical work position in information technology (“IT”) enabled services (e.g. IT / IS Professionals, Finance / Accounting, Business Administration)

Salary: a MINIMUM monthly salary of RM3,000.00

Industry / Sector: Applicant working with Malaysia Digital Status (Previously known as MSC Malaysia Status) and companies in ICT sector only.
*Special exemptions are given to foreign knowledge workers who do not meet the above criteria but are to be employed for the following:

Global Business Services - foreign workers with knowledge-based skills that are not prevalent in Malaysia, but required by MD and ICT companies.

Creative Content and Technologies - workers who utilize creative talent to produce value-added creative work.
Eligibility for Residence-Pass Talents

Has worked in Malaysia for at least 3 years minimum.

Holds a valid Employment Pass with more than 3 months validity at the time of application.

Earns a basic monthly salary of RM15,000 which excludes any allowances and/or bonuses.

Has a Malaysian income tax file number and has paid income tax for at least 2 years.

Holds a PhD/Master's/Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in any discipline from a recognised university or a professional/competency certificate from a recognised professional institute.

Possesses at least 5 years of total work experience.
TYPES OF PASSES
Employment Pass
Expatriates with valid EP can be employed by an organisation in Malaysia for a duration of employment contract of up to 60 month.
Dependant Pass
Dependant Pass is applied for Employment Pass holder's/applicant's:

Social Visit Pass
Social Visit Pass is applied for Employment Pass holder's/applicant's:

Residence-Pass Talent (RP-T)
Benefits of RP-T:

Live and work in Malaysia for up to 10 years.

Flexibility to change employers without having to renew the pass.

Spouse* and children under 18 years old are eligible for the RP-T dependent pass and to study in Malaysia.

Spouse can seek employment without the need to apply for an Employment Pass.
