Companies utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as their core business activity, which include, software development, e-commerce, cybersecurity, Big Data & Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, creative content (video/animation/gaming/commercial production), to name a few.

Eligibility for Employment Pass [Malaysia Digital Status (MD) & ICT Companies]

Holds a tertiary qualification from an institution of higher learning (in any field); or
Holds a diploma in multimedia/ICT or another specialised ICT certification plus at least 5 years’ relevant experience in multimedia/ICT or an equivalent field; or
Has held a professional, executive, management or technical work position in information technology (“IT”) enabled services (e.g. IT / IS Professionals, Finance / Accounting, Business Administration)
Salary: a MINIMUM monthly salary of RM3,000.00
Industry / Sector: Applicant working with Malaysia Digital Status (Previously known as MSC Malaysia Status) and companies in ICT sector only.

*Special exemptions are given to foreign knowledge workers who do not meet the above criteria but are to be employed for the following:

Global Business Services - foreign workers with knowledge-based skills that are not prevalent in Malaysia, but required by MD and ICT companies.
Creative Content and Technologies - workers who utilize creative talent to produce value-added creative work.

TYPES OF PASSES

Employment Pass

Expatriates with valid EP can be employed by an organisation in Malaysia for a duration of employment contract of up to 60 month.

Dependant Pass

Dependant Pass is applied for Employment Pass holder's/applicant's:

Spouse
Children below 18 years (Biological/Adopted/Step Child)
Disabled Children (no age limit)

Social Visit Pass

Social Visit Pass is applied for Employment Pass holder's/applicant's:

Parents/Parents in-law
Children above 18years (Biological/Adopted/Step Child)
Common-law-spouse
